DAWNBREAKER III 2012 BIG COD

December drew to a quick close as weather didn't permit cod fishing for that month but as we got into 2012 January saw some good thornback rays landed with good numbers of codling and cod also being landed. Fish from 3.5 lbs to 9 lbs were our average catch. One lucky angler managed to land a big specimen cod of 26.5 lbs making the boat's personal best catch and also for Fambridge based angler. Fishing in January hopefully will continue to be as consistent as it started. Hopefully the Spring run of cod will be just as good hoping we find some more fine specimens. Well done to Roy with his PB thornback at 14 lbs.

COD SEASON OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2011

We're back! October was a slow start for the cod season but as the end of the month approached and leading into November cod were finally making an appearance. Decent fish from 5 lbs to 16 lbs being landed. Thornbacks and whiting making up most of the angler's bags as the cod were not in great numbers as hopefully expected but quality fish make the best of things. Lets just hope weather permitting that we can keep on the better fish and look forward to at least a decent spring run.

JULY ABOARD DAWNBREAKER - BASS BASS BASS!!

July lived up to its expectations following on from June's good sport on bass fishing. Fish averaging from 2 lbs to 5 lbs were not uncommon with the odd 6 and 7 lb fish being landed. Still not a lot of big bass of yet but with August looming Dawnbreaker will certainly be looking for a few better sized fish - lets just hope all goes according to plan!

Smooth Hounds and Thornback Rays are making up some good catches between bass trips with anglers that only require general fishing.

BASS FISHING IN JUNE

June's Bass fishing has been cracking!

Good numbers of Bass been taken with average 1.5 lb to 3 lb fish being landed consistently. Some days obviously seen better quality fish ranging from 4 lb to 9.5 lb. Still not many double figure specimens. Hopefully within the next couple of months the double figures will be targeted.

BASS FISHING SEASON BEGINS ON DAWNBREAKER III

Bass fishing has started with a bang! Numbers of Bass being landed between 25 and 70 fish a day. Fish between 4lbs and 6lbs not being uncommon. The odd specimen at 10.5 lbs making it the biggest bass aboard Dawnbreaker this year so far. Obviously hoping for bigger fish as the season progresses.

DAWNBREAKER'S FISHING REPORT OF THORNBACK RAYS IN THE MONTH OF MAY

Thornback Ray fishing in May was relatively good with some good numbers of fish being landed between 5lbs and 13lbs. New anglers experiencing some of the good fishing the Thames Estuary has to offer. Dog Fish, the odd Smooth Hound and Bass starting to make an appearance. Here are just a few pictures to wet your appetite.

DAWNBREAKER CHARTERS THAMES ESTUARY FISHING REPORT THE START OF 2011

The start of January 2011 was very slow with cold weather and high winds and lack of fish. The odd few days that were weather permitting to fish some of the off-shore fishing grounds produced few fish but some good specimens amongst them.

Further into February the signs of better fish and more of them looked promising for the months ahead.

March arrives and the fishing improved tenfold with some nice cod up to 15lbs and the sign of the Thornback Ray. As the month progressed the long awaited fishing begun with good numbers of Thornbacks, some good Cod and early Smooth Hounds, including our nuisance Dogfish.

The appetite of the anglers is well underway with plenty of personal bests being broken including the skipper with a fine specimen of Thornback Ray of 17 lbs.

Here are just a few pictures of select quality fish being landed aboard Dawnbreaker III.

DAWNBREAKER'S COD TRIP HITS DOUBLE FIGURE FISH AGAIN

As most days start like this, lads met for breakfast at 6.30 am, 7am on the boat and away we go.

Knowing what I had the day before, the anglers were buzzing with excitement in catching a double figure cod to add to their personal best. Keith, new to Darren's party, ends up smacking some serious backsides landing his first cod - a 15lb specimen with the trip totalling another five personal bests - a dozen cod landed and everyone was happy and hope their next trip is just as productive.

THAMES ESTUARY COD FISHING ABOARD THE DAWNBREAKER

Dawnbreaker heads off 7am sharp in search of some specimen cod fishing with three newbies on the boat. They had great expectations in catching their first cod and not to be disappointed landed 12 cod weighing from 8lbs to 15lbs specimens to one of the new guys. Great day had by all and as a skipper hoping the day after was going to be just as successful for the party the next day.

DAWNBREAKER III - SOME FINE SPECIMEN FISH FOR OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER

Due to the fishing not up to it's usual standards like the 2009 catches for Cod, 2010 Cod fishing, although slow and not large quantities, some good quality fish and personal best fish have been landed with Bass to 8lbs 8oz, Sole to 2lb. Thornback Rays to 14lbs and some very nice Cod from 6lbs to a fine specimen of 20lbs with double figure Cod ranging from 11 lbs to 16 lbs.

DAWNBREAKER CHARTERS BASS AND SOLE SEASON OFF TO A GREAT START

Dawnbreakers Bass season starts with some good results with Dover Soles adding a bonus to some of the angler's catches as you can see with the odd Thornback and Smooth Hound thrown in for good measure.

I have amalgamated some of the best pictures with Bass ranging from 2 lbs to 10 lbs and Soles from 1 lb to 2.5 lbs.

Rob, the Skipper would like mention a few people who broke their personal bests on Bass - Gary, Mark, Tim, Mae and Nicola with Gary with his first ever Bass of 10 lbs
