SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER FISHING REPORTS ON DAWNBREAKER CHARTERS

Merry Christmas to you all - here are the last four months pictures of the good fishing we had aboard Dawnbreaker. It was a good Bass season with many fish between 5lbs and 11.5 lbs. Well done to John for catching a PB bass at 11.5 lbs and Trevor for his PB Thames Estuary Cod at 21 lbs. Fishing was good and consistent albeit weather bound like most boats throughout the Autumn and Winter season but when the weather permitted we were on some good fishing with the cod season producing fish from 6 lbs to 14 lbs. Thornback rays still showing an appearance as the mild winter keeps them in shore for some extra sport. Dog fish at last have gone with only the odd one being caught but not in the numbers they were a month ago. Hoping the cod season will stretch into March and April 2013 to give us continued sport before the spring and summer fish appear. Thank you to all that attended the Dawnbreaker Christmas Party and your gifts and many thanks to Mark who produced a magnificent Dawnbreaker III cake Dawnbreaker Charters would like to thank all the anglers who fish aboard her for their continued support through some trying times in this economic climate. As you all know the quality and service you get is second to none. Happy New Year to you all! GAME ON 2013!

JULY'S BASS FISHING REPORT

July's bass fishing started slow with bad weather in the previous month probably putting the fish off. As the middle of the month approached fishing started to take off with some good size fish between 4.5lbs to 11.5lbs being landed with a few personal bests. Well done to John Latchford with his 11.5 lb specimen. Looking forward to August to find better specimens.

TOPE FISHING AT IT'S BEST (RED LETTER DAY)

Started at 6am in hunt for some fresh bait - Mackerel. Managed to get 21 and headed offshore with two hours travelling. Got to mark with one hour to settle at anchor and away with tope in abundance. 30 landed throughout the day and half again lost. Most fish ranging between 10 lbs to 15 lbs. A personal boat record broken and 5 personal bests. Gary with his first tope (male) at 27 lbs, the Skipper with a 41 lb male and Trevor, the crewman at 54 lbs beating his previous 27 lb personal best. Andy breaking his personal best by 23 lbs with a whopping 64 lb specimen. Not forgetting Jim and Angie with fish around 10 lbs. Jim (24 Rods) with 22 lb. All fish were returned safely to fight another day. The day topped up with 30 Tope, 6 Smooth Hounds and 14 Thornbacks.

MAY BASS FISHING WITH A FEW SUPRISES

May saw some good catches of Bass with high numbers being landed to 8.5 lbs. A few Cod suprisingly enough making a late appearance with a personal best Cod of 22 lbs 2 oz going to Kevin Meeks. There was the odd scattering of Cod and Codling in May but knew they were soon to be leaving us until the winter returns. Thornback Rays, Dogfish and Smooth Hounds making up most of the bags for the anglers. Looking forward to June with the Tope season close upon us and hoping for some good fish being landed. With certain areas being restricted due to the wind farm construction, I am now having to search much further for this species until such times things settle down into the area where the wind farm is being constructed. The first Tope trips will begin in the next week or so, watch this space! Here are a few pictures of May's catches just to wet your appetite.

APRIL - THE BASS SEASON BEGINS

April started off slow but towards the end Bass started showing although not huge amounts but some good quality fish being landed. The odd double figure Cod making up the anglers' bags. As we progress into the month of May, Bass numbers should increase as we go into the season. Well done to Pete with his personal best Bass at 7lbs, not a monster but puts a smile on one's face!

DAWNBREAKER'S MARCH FISHING REPORT

A cracking start to March and a cracking end.

Thornback Rays making most of the big catches aboard Dawnbreaker with some nice specimens being landed at 14 lbs and some good catches of Cod from 5lbs to a personal best fish of 17.5 lbs. Throughout the whole of March the fish have played ball with anglers delighted on most trips. Brentwood Anglings' three boat Spring Festival was a success with all three boats landing good quantities of fish with Thornback Rays to 13.4 lbs and Cod to 15 lbs. Dawnbreaker and his anglers is looking forward to the Bass season which is almost on the doorstep. Lets hope this season will see some decent sized fish amongst them. Here are a few photos to feast your eyes on.

FEB 2012 COD SEASON

DAWNBREAKER III 2012 BIG COD

December drew to a quick close as weather didn't permit cod fishing for that month but as we got into 2012 January saw some good thornback rays landed with good numbers of codling and cod also being landed. Fish from 3.5 lbs to 9 lbs were our average catch. One lucky angler managed to land a big specimen cod of 26.5 lbs making the boat's personal best catch and also for Fambridge based angler. Fishing in January hopefully will continue to be as consistent as it started. Hopefully the Spring run of cod will be just as good hoping we find some more fine specimens. Well done to Roy with his PB thornback at 14 lbs.

COD SEASON OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2011

We're back! October was a slow start for the cod season but as the end of the month approached and leading into November cod were finally making an appearance. Decent fish from 5 lbs to 16 lbs being landed. Thornbacks and whiting making up most of the angler's bags as the cod were not in great numbers as hopefully expected but quality fish make the best of things. Lets just hope weather permitting that we can keep on the better fish and look forward to at least a decent spring run.

JULY ABOARD DAWNBREAKER - BASS BASS BASS!!

July lived up to its expectations following on from June's good sport on bass fishing. Fish averaging from 2 lbs to 5 lbs were not uncommon with the odd 6 and 7 lb fish being landed. Still not a lot of big bass of yet but with August looming Dawnbreaker will certainly be looking for a few better sized fish - lets just hope all goes according to plan!

Smooth Hounds and Thornback Rays are making up some good catches between bass trips with anglers that only require general fishing.

Bass fishing has started with a bang! Numbers of Bass being landed between 25 and 70 fish a day. Fish between 4lbs and 6lbs not being uncommon. The odd specimen at 10.5 lbs making it the biggest bass aboard Dawnbreaker this year so far. Obviously hoping for bigger fish as the season progresses.
